Reinforcing Bars

  • High tensile stainless steel crack stitching bars are used to reinforce cracked masonry walls.  They extend 500mm either side of the crack and withstand a tensile load of at least 8kN.  Bars are available in a selection of sizes.
  • The Thor Helical Crack Stitching Kit contains everything needed to reconnect and strengthen cracked walls. The kit offers a quick, simple and durable solution for the structural repair of cracks in walls. Typical tensile performance loads exceed 8kN, conforming to BS EN 845-1: 2013 as tension ties for strapping and stitching cracked masonry and meeting UKCA and CE marking conditions.
  • Grout ties bond into masonry walls with a high strength polymer modified grout to connect cracking or separating masonry.  The deep peaks and troughs of the helix provide an excellent key between the stainless steel reinforcing rod and the cement-based grout.
  • Helical bars for retrofit bed joint reinforcement.  The reinforcing bars have been tested at the BRE for use in forming load-carrying brick beams. Retrofit masonry beams are formed by reinforcing two separate mortar beds, each with a pair of bars embedded in WHO-60 structural repair grout. The bars are available in lengths of up to 10m and in diameters of 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9mm.
  • Helical strap ties are long-series 12mm CD ties that act as tension straps to connect the facade of a building to a wall that runs perpendicular to it.  Installation of this lateral restraint system is at least ten times quicker to drill and fix compared with cement-grouted tying techniques.  The tension tie is ideal for pinning masonry arches, quoins and thick rubble-filled walls and meets the requirements of EN 845-1 and conditions for UKCA and CE marking.
